American Society of Interior Designers
Jane is a professional member of the ASID, which requires an accredited education, years of employment as an allied member, and passing of the National Council for Interior Design qualification exam (NCIDQ). She regularly attends the High Point Market and seminars throughout the Southeast, including the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center. Continuing education is required to keep up to date with health and safety concerns. Jane has an ASID Designation in Historic Preservation. She restored the Josiah F. Bell House c. 1856 in Beaufort, NC, which she owned and lived in for five years.

Jane Abernathy Hahn is the owner of Interiors by the Sea. She is a native of Ayden, NC, where she grew up working at Worthington's, her family's retail business. She began her career in design in suburban Philadelphia, PA at JM Walton Co., a high-end furniture store. She married and moved to Jacksonville, FL, continuing her career at Hugo's, a full-service interior design firm. There, she designed the interiors of the model homes at Sawgrass, in Ponte Vedra and designed and made the selections for the new wing at Memorial Medical Center. Also, while in Jacksonville, her work was regularly featured in the annual Jacksonville Symphony Show Houses. She has built two homes of her own and made major renovations to her current residence.

Jane is an alumna of Arendell Parrott Academy (Kinston, NC), Saint Mary's Junior College (Raleigh, NC), and The University of Georgia, BFA Art 1976.

Adjunct Professorships and Guest Speaking
From 1999 to 2004, Jane taught Introduction to Drafting and Space Planning as an Adjunct Professor at Florida Community College at Jacksonville (now Florida State College). In 2007, she taught History of Interior Design as an Adjunct Professor at Carteret Community College in Morehead City, NC. Additionally, she taught a course in Interior Design at Duval County (FL) Community School, and has been a featured speaker at Florida Christian Women's Club, Morehead City Women's Club, Pine Knoll Shores Garden Club, Carteret County Antiques Club and a variety of other similar associations.
